Maui Beaches -- Waianapanapa Beach

Waianapanapa Beach is one of the few Maui beaches with black sand. The black sand is actually small lava pebbles...I heard someone mention that it feels like walking on crushed Oreos...That's a perfect description!

This beach is located in Hana and has some cool sea caves and lava tubes to explore...but be careful because the surf can get very rough here.

Amenities:

  • No lifeguards
  • Showers
  • Restrooms
  • Parking
  • Picnic area
  • BBQs
  • Camping area (permits required)
