West Oahu Beaches -- Makaha Beach

This is one of the best Oahu beaches for surfing, boogie boarding, and swimming...but it really depends on the season and conditions.

Makaha Beach is on the west shore of Oahu and has great surf in the winter months but is usually calm in the summer months...but notice I said usually. Being on the west shore, Makaha Beach will catch a strong south swell and southwest swell...so just be careful. The beach is nice and long so there are areas where it is more calm than others. When the surf is big though...there is no place that is safe to swim...and the lifeguards will make sure you don't go in the water.
