Big Island Beaches -- Anaeho'omalu Bay

This may be the most difficult of all Big Island beaches to pronounce...Anaeho'omalu Bay is located in front of the Waikoloa Beach Marriott. It is popular with visitors and tourists alike...in fact, you may want to just call it what the locals call it...A-Bay.

A great distraction here are the two ancient fishponds next to the beach (pictured below). There is also a pathway that goes around these fishponds and through lava fields all the way to the Hilton Waikoloa Resort.

The sand at A-Bay is not white and powdery, but more gold and speckled. It is generally calm so it is great for novice swimmers, children, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and diving. There are various equipment rentals available as well.

Amenities:

  • No lifeguards
  • Showers
  • Restrooms
