Hawaiian Restaurants | Duke's Waikiki
Duke's Canoe Club is one of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants on Oahu. It is located in the Outrigger Waikiki on the Beach Hotel smack dab in the middle of Waikiki.
Most of the menu is what I would consider moderately priced...meaning it would be between $10 and $20 per person not including appetizers, drinks, and tip. There are some items that will be less and some that will be more. They do have a wide variety of items on the menu like burgers, chicken, fresh island fish, pasta, salads, etc. so you should be able to find something you like.
Quite frankly, the menu and food is nothing exceptional either...good, but the food is not what makes this place so great...it is the atmosphere. They have an unbelievable location right on Waikiki Beach...literally steps from the water.
Between songs, you can even hear the surf on the shore...did I say between songs? YES!...and that is the other reason why I love this place. Every night, they have live music (usually very good bands)!
In my humble opinion, it does not get any better than having a meal at sunset with live music looking out over the ocean and watching the surfers and catamarans catch the last wave of the day in. It is not a quiet meal but if good food, live music, and a picture perfect ocean view sounds good to you, you have to go to Duke's.
If you want to have a table at sunset, you better go early or make reservations. They are located in the Outrigger Waikiki Beach Hotel. tel (808) 922-2268.
Duke's is owned by T S Restaurants...they have other Hawaiian restaurants on Maui and Kauai, so if you can't make it to this one, be sure to check out one of the other ones.
