Dole Pineapple Plantation
The Dole Pineapple Plantation is on the way up to Oahu's famous North Shore...so why not stop? What is a trip to Hawaii without having some Hawaiian pineapple?
You can also learn about Hawaiian plantation life, and see how pineapples are grown. Yes, it is a total tourist trap, but if you forget about all the trinkets and souvenirs for sale in the gift shop, it is really a cool place.
Besides, you don't have to spend any money here if you don't want to. Of course, you would be missing out if you skipped tasting some pineapple or dole whip while you're here...as my boys will tell you..:) It is also a good place to purchase pineapple to ship home.
- Cost--This Oahu attraction is FREE...no cost to enter and look around. They do offer a 20 minute train tour that costs $7.50 for adults and $5.50 for children (4-12)...nothing exciting but what kid doesn't like a train ride? There is also a maze built out of hedges...which they say is the world's largest maze. Of course, that is extra too...
- Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. Closed on December 25.
